When paying in person, please bring your bill or statement with you to the Tax Collector's Office:

Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.   We  do not close for lunch. 

 

In cases of inclement weather, please call ahead. If City Hall is open, we are expected to be open, but in extreme weather, please call ahead to be sure.   
  
Paying at Banks during the collection period:   Taxpayers may pay their property tax bills at certain Norwalk bank branch offices.  You do not have to be a customer of the bank in order to pay there, and there is no charge for this service.   View more information and a list of participating banks.   This option provides convenience and  flexibility - taxpayers who wish to have an in-person transaction may do so without the challenge of having to park at City Hall.  You will be able to make use of this service again in December 2018, when bills for the second installment have been mailed and received.
  

Due Dates & Delinquent Notices


Tax bills for the first installment were payable by Wednesday, August 1, 2018.  The second installment will be due January 1 2019, payable without interest by February 1, 2019.   

Tax rates for those taxes were set  in May 2018.  Taxes were based upon assessments as of October 1, 2017 (the grand list date).  Those tax rates can be seen here:

Taxes are due in July and January, payable by August 1 and February 1, respectively.   
   
Delinquent notices and demands for payment of past due taxes are mailed in September (first installment)  and in February (second installment).  Lien continuing certificates are filed in mid March.
 
Please note: The term "demand" is prescribed by state statute,  and is not meant to imply rudeness toward the taxpayer.
